Framer X Beta 1 is synonymous with being fast, clean and easy to use. This is the only slight difference that can bother you the first time. This is definitely an advantage if you’re coming from Figma because you already know the difference between Frames and Groups. Highly recommend this tool although I should say it's not a tool that can cover all a designer's needs - I still need PS, AI & Sketch - at least. Playing with essential features is just like working with any other tools. It has certainly increased my productivity over the last few years, being able to design functional proof of concepts for apps in days as opposed to weeks. (I don't know if that makes sense, let me know if it doesn't and I'll try to clarify better). This is to say that the application won't be built using Framer but will call elements from it. From my experience, the best Framer X can do in this regard is essentially create the React components for export or be used to connect with the live application and essentially design and create live components through Framer X. If you're talking about building a prototype using React components in Framer X and exporting that into a live application/site - I don't think that's possible (although I may be wrong). I've found Framer X to be extremely useful in aiding my whole process of designing in Framer X and then translating those across in Webflow or WordPress. I'm a User Experience Designer that also develops website for my clients (along with branding such as logos, packaging, presentations etc). I asked that question myself when I first started playing around with it. To answer your question regarding the front end developer role - it depends. The list could go on for both counterparts but those are the few that came to my mind initially. Not gonna lie, I'm genuinely devastated by their choice in product development. The web app is a bit clunky, for me at least, and loses its nativity. I guess it's about achieve its purpose cause I think I'm going to have to upgrade soon. Honestly, it's not my favourite - I'm still getting used to it and much preferred the desktop version. They recently only made the desktop version available to Pro members. The Vector drawing functionality isn't the best - as I mentioned I prefer to create in Sketch and then import into Framer X There's plenty of third-party packages you can install for quick functional elements The in built prototyping functionality is extremely simple to use and craft as well as looking smooth and natural. I now use Sketch for quick Vector creations or document creation (sometimes wireframes too) Including all the Framer X hooksĮven if you're not a coder, the GUI and design elements are on par with Sketch in my opinion. Whilst I was able to code quite well in a fair few languages, React was new to me, however, with a little learning and dedication I believe it's fairly easy to pick up. If you're proficient with coding then it's a really awesome tool that allows you to create highly interactive and customisable prototypes. I've been using Framer for a couple of years since it first came out - absolutely loved it from the get go, is my personal favourite for designing all things website/app/wireframe related!
